Tony Winner Heather Headley to Rap, Cast Spells & More in MUNY’s Into the Woods

Heather Headley is casting spells in Missouri! The Tony and Grammy winner will play the Witch in Into the Woods at the MUNY in St. Louis from July 21 through 27. Directed by Gary Griffin (Broadway’s Honeymoon in Vegas), the new production will be choreographed by Chris Bailey, with musical direction by Brad Haak. Further casting will be announced shortly.

Headley, who won a Tony Award for Broadway’s Aida, was last seen on stage in the West End production of The Bodyguard and garnered an Olivier nomination. She is rumored to be returning to Broadway in a transfer of the musical adaptation. Headley made her Broadway debut in The Lion King and appeared as a special guest artist in Il Divo—A Musical Affair. In 2009, she won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album for her third release, Audience of One.

The MUNY’s forthcoming season also includes My Fair Lady, Hairspray, Holiday Inn, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Beauty and the Beast and Oklahoma.
