This one is really close to me. I made up my mind, before I sang a note for this record, that I was going to do a gospel song for it. I was thinking for a while about what I would want this "song" to say. Well, I was looking over my journals and noticed that over and over again I was writing about "change." I have no power to change anyone else in my life (as much as I would like to, sometimes :)), but I can surely work on me! I think the closer you get to God, the more He starts showing you things in your life that He'd like you to change. It makes you a better person and a better witness for Him. Change is hard to do on your own, believe me, I've tried – I'm still trying. You need help...a Higher Power. God Himself can help you become what He wants you to become: His child, not perfect, but so amazing in His eyes.
I was in LA working on Am I Worth It with Warren (Campbell), and I told him how badly I wanted to do a gospel song. He's one of the best gospel writers and producers in the business; He was ready to go...and so was I. This song is from my heart...changed and changing. I hope it changes yours :)
